Hotel Restaurant “Villa Beukenhof” still breathes the atmosphere of previous centuries; both inside and outside. Many celebrities found their way to De Beukenhof and your future kitchen table for an evening of culinary delights, including Prince Bernhard, Princess Beatrix, Maria Callas, Liz Taylor, Montgomery, Churchill, Freddy Heineken and Rutger Hauer.
If you are looking for a special object as a home or office/practice at home, do not let this charming and luxurious Boutique Villa slip away.
The luxury Boutique Villa Beukenhof is on offer in two variants. You can opt for variant 1 with an asking price of € 1,295,000 (usable area living approximately 160 m²) or variant 2 with an asking price of € 1,495,000 ( usable area living approx. 190 m²). Customisation is of course possible, even with extra facilities such as housekeeping, chef at home, use of the wine cellar, gardener or dog walking service.
Situated in a hidden A1 location in the centre of Oud Oegstgeest. A supermarket en various high quality shops and catering establishments of the attractive shopping street 'De Kempenaerstraat' are around the corner. City park The Leidsche Hout, primary and secondary schools, sports fields and public transport are within walking distance. Conveniently located for motorways links to Amsterdam / Schiphol Airport (20 minutes by car) and The Hague (A4 / A44), as well as recreation areas the Kagerplassen and Klinkenbergerplas and the beaches and dunes of Katwijk-Noordwijk-Wassenaar. Leiden Central Station ( 1.6 km) and 2 large hospitals (LUMC / Alrijne) are but a stone’s throw away.
History:
Historical documents first mentioned an inn in Oegstgeest in 1355. It was then called 'De Voskuyl', named after a pit in the neighbourhood where foxes were caught. In 1517 this inn was destroyed and rebuilt and became a place where “hedge sermons” (open air Calvinist preaching) were held, among other things.
In 1926 the inn was revived by two young entrepreneurs: gardener Van der Putten and carpenter Brik. They see that 'De Beukenhof', as they call the white house, is ideally located between the beach (Noordwijk and Katwijk) and the historic centre of Leiden. They decided to start a tearoom. Van der Putten, an imaginative garden expert who gained his ideas in England, created a beautiful design for the tea and walking garden, with the ancient beech as the centrepiece. Brik converted the small house into a tearoom. Together they started selling plants and serving tea to noble families on their way to town or the sea.
The large beech in the centre of the garden, the Fagus Sylvatica, is over three hundred years old, according to the Guide to Dutch Garden and Landscape Architecture (www.monumentaltrees.com). The monumental tree had a trunk circumference of no less than 4.39 meters in 2013 and a height of 15.60 meters in 2014.
After the war, in 1948, restaurant De Beukenhof gets its current look and goes through life as restaurant De Beukenhof. It has since become a household name. After having had several owners, Erwin Rozendal took the helm on on 1 June 1996. In 2001, he realised nine luxury hotel suites. This marks a new era and added an important chapter to the restaurant's rich history.

Layout:
The new, yet to be split building, with residential purpose on a spacious plot of approximately 700 m², offers many possibilities for the new occupant(s). Variant 1 offers an entrance through the "witte huisje", hall, separate toilet, spacious living room / kitchen (currently Voorhuys) with fireplace and patio doors to a terrace over almost the full width of the house, impressive second hall with marble floor and beautiful staircase to the first floor. Via a spacious landing access to the current 2 suites, Amsterdam and Sydney, both with en suite bathrooms. Thanks to the addition of a large dormer window in the current Sydney suite, which is included in the asking price, a living space of approximately 48 m² will be created, excluding bathroom, while retaining a fireplace. From suite Sydney and from the private balcony of suite Amsterdam you have a breath taking, soothing, green and unobstructed view of the 300 years old beech and of the deep and sunny back garden facing south and side garden on the west; at the back of the garden you can create 2 private parking spaces on site.
